A2 was not only the first 4-door car of Turkey but was olso the first 4-door fiber glass body sedan car of the world.

The first studies for A2 started in 1969, developed in 1970 and manufactured and marketed starting from 1971/01. Previous A1 design was the base model of the car and A2 was developed on the same platform. A2 was also powered by 1300cc Kent Ford engine.
Otosan started to give a code name to differ the design from 1976 with A2 SL. We tried to differentiate these models, regarding to their body types like UK and German car manufacturers, as MkI for the A2 model manufactured between 1971/01-1972/04 and MkII for the A2 model between 1972/04-1976/01. SL type appeared on 1976/01 and remained on production until 1981/01.
Even though A2 has been developed as a family car, it has also got a big success in commercial use.A2 has been on the market from 1971/01 to 1981/12 and totally 35.668 cars were produced.
